Hide and Seek

"This is childish," Cordelia said. "We can't be doing this," she continued as Gunn, Wesley and herself went up the stairs as quietly as possible.
"27... 28... 30..." Fred's voice was heard a bit fainter now.
"It's silly and totally un-cool, but it can be fun," Gunn chuckled. "Look at British here. He's not complaining," he said, pointing at Wesley, who was walking a bit ahead of them.
"That's because he's never had a childhood," Wesley replied, speaking of himself in the third person. "Stop talking," he added before disappearing inside one of the rooms.
"52... 53... 54..." they heard. Fred still had some way to go before she reached 100, but it was better to find a good hiding as good as possible.
"Wesley is taking this too seriously," Gunn noted.
"Shhhh," Cordelia said as she went up to the next floor. Once she had left Gunn behind, she concentrated in finding a good spot. Preferably a spot that wasn't covered with spider webs. "Angel, you really need to clean this place up," she muttered.
She spotted a door at the end of the hall and she headed that way. It was open. She entered quietly, trying not to stumble across any furniture. When she reached for the light, she was surprised to see it worked. The lightening was dim, but she could see that there was a king sized bed and an old desk. The room was twice as big as Angel's.
Then she saw another door, and she thought that it would lead to the bathroom. She opened it carefully and entered the room. When she was reaching for the light switch, she head a noise coming from the next room, so she remained in the darkness, not wanting to make a single sound.
The bathroom door was opened and someone entered. She couldn’t make out who that was because the movement had been quick and the lightening wasn't good enough. She heard the footsteps getting closer but when the time she realized that, the person was right next to her. The smell of perfume for men reached her. It was Gunn's scent.
"Hey," she protested. "This is my hiding place."
"Cordy?" Gunn said, reaching out to touch her.
"And that's my boob!" she protested again. "Go somewhere else," she said as she moved away from him.
"Fred probably stopped counting by now. I can't," he explained.
"I don't care," she whispered. "You gonna make her spot me if you stay here. I was here first, so you have to go," she whined childishly.
A noise was heard outside the bathroom.
"Shh," Gunn said, moving closer to the wall.
Cordelia moved away silently, standing in a corner. They heard steps outside, steps that were getting closer to where they were hiding. Cordelia went inside the tub and Gunn followed her.
"Stop following me," she whispered annoyed in his ear.
"Duck," he simply replied. The both laid on the bathtub floor. Gunn was on top of Cordelia, their faces only inches away.
"You're crushing me," she complained. He tried to accommodate himself in order not to hurt her. "Thank you," she whispered when he found a more comfortable position for both of them. The sounds coming from the next room stopped. They both remained silent anyway, waiting.
That was when the noises resumed. "Shit," Gunn cursed. They remained hidden. The only sound in the room was their breathing, which was getting faster as the seconds passed. The heat started to rise for both of them. It wasn't caused by the fact that they were alone, in the dark, their bodies pressed against each other, their warm breathing caressing their necks. It was probably just the adrenaline of the game. That's what they told themselves.
Suddenly the door was opened. Soft, tentative steps sounded in the room. The light was turned on, but the bulb exploded.
"Great, another one," Fred muttered. With that, they heard her turn around and leave. After a few minutes, they got out of the bathtub quietly. Walking on the tip-toeing, they reached the door. They cautiously listened behind it to make sure there was no one in the next room.
There were no signs of Fred, so they opened the door and left the room. Cordelia took another look at the big bedroom. "If I ever leave my apartment, I'll ask Angel to give me this room," she said. Gunn took a better look at it.
"Yes, it's really you. Too bad we didn't get to see the bathroom," he joked.
"That's a nice bathroom," Cordelia said, knowing that whenever she'd think of the room she'd remember hiding in there with Gunn. There's a nice bathtub, she thought.
"It is," he replied as they exited the room. "There's a nice bathtub," he said with a naughty tone.
Cordelia looked at him and hit him playfully in the arm. "So where do we hide next?"
